Everyone knows that Ram rocks, but it’s still nice to hear.
Automotive Fleet magazine holds a yearly voting process in which its readers – over 20,000 operators and owners of commercial truck fleets in North America – select which truck they like the best. Competition in the segment is always rough, but Automotive Fleet said the votes favored a clear winner by a landslide. The results are in, and this year, the Fleet Truck of the Year title went to the Ram 1500.
The Ram 1500 is no stranger to the honor, either. This is the second time in the past three years the truck has taken home the award. The 1500 succeeded in categories such as application effectiveness, durability, quality, servicing, maintenance, and lifestyle costs. Amazingly, the Ram 1500 was one of forty trucks contending for the award, but managed to pull into the number one spot regardless.
Bob Hegbloom, the head of the Ram Brand of FCA North America, commented on the win, “Receiving an award based on such an experienced audience truly gives Ram Truck more momentum and confirms we are delivering the features most important to business owners.”
Ram enthusiastically accepted the 2015 Fleet Truck of the Year award, happy to receive recognition for their continued commitment to excellence.
For the fourth year running, the 2015 Jeep Wrangler has received a Vincentric Best Value in America award in the compact/mid-size SUV segment. This time around, the 2015 Ram 1500 also grabbed one of the awards in the full-size half-ton pickup segment.
The awards are granted to the models that deliver the best value in their respective segments, based on statistical analysis that combines the ownership cost of 2015 model year vehicles with their current market price.
2015 Jeep Wrangler
With its unmatched off-road capability and legendary four-wheel drive system, it’s no surprise to us at Rochester Hills Chrysler Jeep that the Wrangler managed to cinch an award for the fourth time. It offers the quintessential 4×4 experience and starts at only $22,795.
2015 RAM 1500
The Ram 1500 is an outstanding honoree too, make no mistake. It provides best-in-class fuel efficiency (29 mpg) with 420 lb-ft of torque and up to 9,200 of towing capability, as well as numerous other nifty technologies to make it stand out as the best of its peers.
The Ram 1500 continues to win awards and hold “best-in-segment” records among its full-size pickup competitors. The EcoDiesel model was most recently awarded Green Car Journal’s 2015 Green Truck of the Year award.
With an EPA rating of 28 highway miles to the gallon, Ram truck’s EcoDiesel model is the most fuel efficient full-size, half-ton truck to ever hit the market. Impressively, its fuel economy rating bests the highway mpg of the most efficient small truck as well.
“The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel exemplifies what a ‘green’ truck should be,” saidGreen Car Journal and CarsofChange.com editor and publisher, Ron Cogan. “It’s a heavy-hitter that pulls off exceptional fuel economy with its impressive EcoDiesel engine and array of efficiency features like active grill shutters and aero suspension. Pickup buyers get the best of all worlds with the beefy torque and environmental performance offered by this full-size and stylish pickup.”
In addition, the Ram 1500 equipped with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine holds the number two spot for fuel efficiency, earning 25 highway miles per gallon.
When you think of a RAM 1500, some of the first adjectives that come to mind are dependent, powerful, maybe even “GUTS • GLORY.” Whatever words you choose they are likely not the same ones you use to describe a Maserati.
However, the vehicles on opposite ends of the spectrum have more in common than you might think. That’s because the EcoDiesel engine found in the RAM 1500 is similar to the one found in the Maserati Quattroporte and Ghibli. The RAM engine isn’t tuned to produce 275-hp and 442 lb-ft of torque like the Maserati ones, but it is one of Ward Auto’s 10 Best Engines in 2014.
That’s because as far as diesel engines go, the 3.0L Turbodiesel DOHC V-6 is one the most powerful yet fuel efficient engines on the market. According to Ward Auto’s review of the engine provides smooth-shifting and “goes about its business with little effort or humdrum and propels the 6,000-lb. (2,722-kg) truck with ease.”

The 2014 RAM 1500 has earned a record-breaking 28 mpg rating from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), setting a new standard for all full-size, half-ton pickup on the market.
This incredible rating was made possible by the RAM’s all-new 3.0-liter EcoDiesel, the first and only advanced-technology turbo-diesel offered in the segment. Thanks to its Selective Catalytic Reduction, high-pressure cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation, and variable swirl intake ports, the EcoDiesel delivers class-leading fuel economy as well as more power than any other V6-powered full-size truck, with peak torque measured at 420 pound-feet.
This also marks the 2nd time RAM takes the top spot for efficiency in pickup rankings, as the 2014 model’s record replaced none other than the one set by the 2013 RAM 1500 last year.
“To put the RAM 1500 EcoDiesel in context, it gets 6 mpg better fuel economy than the best F150 Eco-Boost,” said Reid Bigland, President and CEO of RAM Truck Brand. “Overall, the RAM 1500 Eco-Diesel has outstanding pick-up truck capability with compact-car-like fuel economy.”
Autobytel.com—“Your Lifetime Automotive Advisor”—has named its “SUV of the Year” and “Pickup Truck of the Year” award recipients. It should come as no surprise to anyone—it certainly doesn’t come as any sort of surprise to the staff here at Rochester Hills Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram—that the respective winners of those awards are the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the 2014 Ram 1500. Both vehicles racked up numerous awards toward the end of 2013, and each continues to start 2014 off on the right foot with yet another important victory.
“For 2014, the Jeep Grand Cherokee embodies a readiness to head off into the hills as an affordable family hauler wrapped around class-leading interiors chockfull of the safety, technology and comfort features that set the Grand Cherokee at the top of the heap,” said Michelle Naranjo, editor-in-chief, Autobytel. “For the second year in a row, the award winning Ram 1500 continues to bring fuel efficiency and tech in a bold package to the value shoppers and accomplishment seekers who want to get the job done right.”
Autobytel praised the Jeep Grand Cherokee for its deep model roster, its expert-level refinement, and its hallmark off-roading prowess. The Ram 1500 earned high marks for the new EcoDiesel V6 engine that drives it, as well as the eight-speed automatic transmission mated to it and the standard rear coil suspension that makes this Ram truck more responsive than ever.
Autobytel.com’s editors boast a combined 80+ years of experience behind the wheels of various vehicles, so their word is gold when it comes to what’s good in automotive. This year’s Autobytel award winners were determined based upon the primary factors of innovation, design, and features. In late 2013, the Ram 1500 was named Motor Trend’s 2014 Truck of the Year; the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee was trail rated as having best-in-class 4×4 capabilities and won the Cars.com/USA Today Mid-Size SUV Challenge head-to-head against all other comers.

For the very first time, the Motor Trend Truck of the Year award goes to last year’s winner, the Ram 1500. This model is the only truck that has won the award two years in a row. With its new EcoDiesel V6 engine, the Ram 1500 beat out some stiff competition this year. The Ram proved its reliability against its nine other contenders testing done by judges which measured tow, payload, and driving experience. Judges measured these stats 0-60 times to ensure accuracy in Uvalde, TX.

In addition to being the only truck to ever win this award two years in a row, the announcement was made in Michigan which is the birthplace of Ram trucks. The Ram 1500 outclasses its stiff competition not only with its fuel economy and Torque, but also its style and all amenities it has to offer.
