Dr. Ernie Ward – America’s Pet Advocate

It has officially been summer for only a handful of days, but it has felt like summer longer than that. The weather has been pretty nice aside from the storms recently; and because of the nice weather we’ve noticed more people driving around with their dogs.

As much as we love seeing people enjoying their cars, trucks and SUVs by taking their dogs for rides, we have an important safety reminder – never leave your dog in a parked car on a hot day. We were inspired to share this message because of this video we came across the other day.

Dr. Ernie Ward, the vet in the video, is known as “America’s Pet Advocate” and his message couldn’t be clearer. It is never a good idea to leave a pet in a parked car on a hot day. As you can see from the video in just 30 minutes the interior of the car can get dangerously hot.

“The whole point of this exercise is to see what this would feel like to a dog to be stuck in a car.” Ward said. “You’re helpless, you have no control over what’s happening, you don’t understand what’s happening, you just know that your body is getting so overheated that you could be in real danger.”

So if you’re a dog owner this video is a must watch. We here at Rochester Hills hope that by sharing it we can prevent future tragedy and never again see a dog trapped in a parked car.

Jeep Captures Your Summer Memories with Their #JeepSummer Campaign

Summer officially starts June 21, 2014. Suffice it to say we’re ready for the season of sunshine and beaches to begin. There is nothing quite like loading up our Jeep and heading to Lake St. Clair, Lake Huron or Lake Erie. Well Jeep is trying to capture our very sentiment with their new ad campaign – #JeepSummer.

The hashtag driven campaign combines a series of three commercials with an instagram sweepstakes, USA Basketball and Jeep prizes as well as strategic philanthropy.

The commercials are fairly straightforward, go out and enjoy the summer in a Jeep, especially the 2014 Jeep Altitude trim levels. Which are, of course, the official vehicles of summer and USA Basketball.

The Instagram portion is tied in by using #JeepSummer when you post a picture about enjoying the summer. Some of our favorites are of people actually in Jeeps, but any picture denoted with the hashtag is eligible to win. To win what exactly? Well the grand prizes include trips to watch the USA Men’s National Team in action at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup and a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Altitude.

In case you needed even more reason to enter, no purchase is necessary to be eligible for any of the prizes; each entry equals a $1 donation to the USO.  The donations to the USO are the strategic philanthropy portion. As Jeep gives back to support military troops and families, they in turn are big supporters of the Jeep brand and it promotes a sense of patriotism on which Jeep was founded.

So know that you know all about #JeepSummer go out and enjoy yourself, making sure to share all your pictures and if you need a ride to get you to your summer destinations come see us at Rochester Hills Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram.

“Born Makers” Continues Chrysler’s Made in America Campaign

A new Chrysler commercial asks the question, “What is a born maker made from?” They then proceed to answer that question during their new commercial “Born Makers” with endearing characteristics of American fortitude such as callused hands, strong backs from small steps turned giant leaps.

The commercial is specifically for the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200, although the car itself isn’t mentioned until the end of the 1-minute spot. The idea is that Chrysler wants to evoke all the positive sentiment and national pride that comes with a sense of American ingenuity when people see their new car.

The “Born Makers” commercial “reminds us that it’s not just dreaming big ideas but also having the ingenuity and commitment to make them happen. It’s an homage to American innovation, serving as a reminder that you don’t have to cross an ocean for a car you’re proud to have in your driveway,” said Olivier Francois, Chief Marketing Officer, Chrysler Group LLC in a Chrysler press release. “The all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 embodies this ideal. It’s a perfectly timed coming together of people, resources and spirit of the Chrysler brand.”

This commercial continues a line of Made in America campaigns that we’ve addressed before at the Rochester Hills Blog. Let us know what you think of the newest one.

Jeep Brand Roars to Third Consecutive Monthly Sales Record in May

Jeep sales

The Jeep Brand broke all kinds of records in May. It’s the kind of thing the brand has been doing a lot of recently—breaking records, that is. Jeep set a monthly sales record both globally and in the U.S. for the third straight month. The brand sold 100,207 vehicles globally in May, 70,203 of which were sold in the U.S. May 2014 was the first single month to see global Jeep sales top 100,000 units and also the first to see U.S. sales top 70,000 units.

“After setting back-to-back annual sales records the past two years, the Jeep brand has now set three consecutive monthly sales records – topping 100,000 global sales and 70,000 U.S. sales in May,” Mike Manley, President and CEO of Jeep Brand for Chrysler, said. “It is clear that customers across the globe value the unique balance of legendary 4×4 capability and significantly improved fuel efficiency and on-road driving dynamics that the Jeep SUV lineup delivers. We look forward to continuing Jeep sales momentum in 2014, especially as the all-new Renegade arrives in Europe in the fourth quarter.”

Those customers were especially high on vehicles like the new and redesigned Cherokee, the Compass, and the Wrangler, all of which posted individual monthly sales records in May. Plus, as Manley’s quotes portend, there is no real reason to expect this great sales rush to slow down for Jeep anytime soon. Between the all-new Renegade, the redesigned Cherokee, and the rest of the iconic SUV lineup, the deck is stacked in Jeep’s favor for the foreseeable future. For the present, however, come be part of the party; come see us at Rochester Hills CDJR today to find out which Jeep fits your personality.
