Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk: 2015 Four Wheeler Of The Year

The Four Wheeler Network scoured the earth to determine the 2015 Four Wheeler of the Year. More appropriately, they scarred the earth, testing three off-road vehicles that met their initial testing criteria. The SUVs had to be “all-new or substantially revised, have a two-speed transfer case (or equivalent), a production run of 1,500 vehicles in the U.S., and be on sale by March 15, 2015.”  At the end of the day, the 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk stood proudly at the top of the pile.

The Four Wheeler Network found that the Trailhawk justified its name and did “very well on the trail.” The number of off-road features that helped this Jeep win are almost too numerable to count. Certainly, it’s 48.4 crawl ratio didn’t hurt its performance. There’s also a rear-locking differential, skid plates and the Selec-Terrain and Selec-Speed Crawl systems that allow the driver to adjust the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk’s response and handling.

The Trailhawk was also measured for its on-road performance. Though it took some getting used to, the judges admired the Jeep’s ESS (Engine Start-Stop) technology. One judge commented on its “comfortable, smooth ride that is perfect for a long trip.” Another said that the “Cherokee is a pleasure to drive on the highway.”

Finally, one judge gave his final endorsement, saying, “Extremely likable car-based SUV that’s way more capable and fun in the dirt than you’d ever imagine.” We couldn’t put it any better than that! Check out the new Trailhawk here at Rochester Hills Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM!

Popular Band O.A.R.’s Concert in Colorado Takes Jeep on the Rocks

The future of Jeep Wrangler is about to get a bit rocky—in a good way. Popular rock band O.A.R. rocked out at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado last Saturday as part of the annual Jeep on the Rocks concert experience. The band kicked off their Jeep experience with an off-road excursion in Jeep Wrangler SUVs through Idaho Springs, Colorado before holding the special concert sponsored by the American Jeep brand.

“Colorado is full of devoted Jeep enthusiasts and we could not think of a more fitting way to celebrate their loyalty than to host a concert under the stars at Red Rocks with a legendary live performer like O.A.R.,” said Jeff Hines, Director of the Denver Business Center for Chrysler Group LLC.

O.A.R. is known for their dynamic, vibrant live shows, which make them the perfect band to showcase Jeep’s rugged Wrangler that is vibrant all on its own. O.A.R.’s concert in Colorado began at 7pm with the band Parachute opening for the top-of-the-charts band.

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ram 1500 Each Win AutoBytel.com Award

2014 Jeep Grand CherokeeAutobytel.com—“Your Lifetime Automotive Advisor”—has named its “SUV of the Year” and “Pickup Truck of the Year” award recipients. It should come as no surprise to anyone—it certainly doesn’t come as any sort of surprise to the staff here at Rochester Hills Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram—that the respective winners of those awards are the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the 2014 Ram 1500. Both vehicles racked up numerous awards toward the end of 2013, and each continues to start 2014 off on the right foot with yet another important victory.

“For 2014, the Jeep Grand Cherokee embodies a readiness to head off into the hills as an affordable family hauler wrapped around class-leading interiors chockfull of the safety, technology and comfort features that set the Grand Cherokee at the top of the heap,” said Michelle Naranjo, editor-in-chief, Autobytel. “For the second year in a row, the award winning Ram 1500 continues to bring fuel efficiency and tech in a bold package to the value shoppers and accomplishment seekers who want to get the job done right.”

Autobytel praised the Jeep Grand Cherokee for its deep model roster, its expert-level refinement, and its hallmark off-roading prowess.  The Ram 1500 earned high marks for the new EcoDiesel V6 engine that drives it, as well as the eight-speed automatic transmission mated to it and the standard rear coil suspension that makes this Ram truck more responsive than ever.

Autobytel.com’s editors boast a combined 80+ years of experience behind the wheels of various vehicles, so their word is gold when it comes to what’s good in automotive.  This year’s Autobytel award winners were determined based upon the primary factors of innovation, design, and features.  In late 2013, the Ram 1500 was named Motor Trend’s 2014 Truck of the Year; the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee was trail rated as having best-in-class 4×4 capabilities and won the Cars.com/USA Today Mid-Size SUV Challenge head-to-head against all other comers.

In 1984, Jeep used a new welding process to figure out how to create a light body vehicle at top performance both on and off road. This light weight concept lead to a stiff chassis and more stability compared to the other competitors including auto brands like Nissan, Toyota, Ford and more. Almost a decade later in 1996, these auto brands used the Jeep Cherokee concept to create their own large unibody models.

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

First and foremost check your owners manual to find exact towing capabilities. The manual may consist of some acronyms, such as GVWR, GCWR, or GAWR. About.com has an informative page that explains what all of these acronyms and other towing terms mean.If you are unsure where to find the information or are not positive, call your local Rochester Hills Chrysler Jeep dealership at (888)435-3039.

Next, check and look over all of your towing parts including the hitch and trailer to make sure nothing is rusty or out of shape. Once these are looked over, secure what you are towing. Make sure to drive about half the speed you normally do- remembering it takes extra time, space and power to stop, turn and change lanes.

Jeep has plenty of towing and hauling vehicles for your best tow that produce maximum towing fuel efficiency:

  • Jeep Compass: towing capabilities of up to 2,000 pounds
  • Jeep Cherokee: towing capabilities of up to 4,500 pounds
  • Jeep Patriot: towing capabilities of up to 2,000 pounds
  • Jeep Wrangler: towing capabilities of up to 4,200 pounds
  • *Jeep Wrangler Unlimited: towing capabilities of up to 3,500 pounds (Best-in-Class Towing)
  • *Jeep Grand Cherokee: towing capabilities of up to 7,400 pounds (Best-in-Class Towing)

These Jeep vehicles can tow anything from small trailers, motor cycles, boats, snowmobiles to large camping trailers and extra-heavy-duty. Look up towing state laws to make sure you are not breaking or violating any.
