NWAPA members gathered in Portland, Oregon, to test drive 19 energy-efficient and fuel-saving vehicles, including gasoline-electric models, battery-electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, and even a hydrogen fuel cell model. The Chrysler Pacific Hybrid impressed the writers with its great range, efficiency, and excellent versatility.

Range

“With its 33-mile electric-only range, the Pacifica Hybrid has plenty of range for most drivers’ daily commutes…” said NWAPA President John Vincent. “Journalists overwhelmingly picked the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid as the Northwest Family Green Car of the Year, recognizing the first hybrid minivan’s exceptional fuel economy as a groundbreaking way to extend family budgets.”

Safety

Along with its fuel-saving powertrain, the Pacifica offers more than 100 available safety and security features, along with an abundance of desirable tech features. Families will especially appreciate the available Uconnect Theater rear seat entertainment system.

Fiat Chrysler Creates 700 New Jobs In Michigan

Fiat Chrysler Creates 700 New Jobs

In a move that defies some recent political finger-pointing, Fiat Chrysler has announced a plan to create 700 new jobs in Michigan. The Detroit area factory has shown some signs of dwindling in more recent years. The factory has been producing the Chrysler 200 sedan, which is now being discontinued.

Now, Fiat Chrysler is reworking the factory’s plan, making it a central location for manufacturing the 2018 Ram 1500. It’s thanks to a $4.6 million grant and an $11.4 million tax break that they are able to remake the plant. Not only will the new Michigan plant create 700 new jobs, but it will also preserve current jobs and afford laid-off employees the opportunity to return.

Even as Fiat Chrysler creates 700 new jobs, some onlookers still react skeptically to their decision to move smaller productions to Mexico. Recently Ford has received some criticism for making a similar decision and moving some of its production to Mexico, too. For both Ford and Fiat Chrysler, the goal is to have all of the best-selling, most profitable vehicles made in the USA, with smaller products down south. This will centralize the production of big sellers like Jeep SUVs and Ram pickups in the states, a plan that hopes to boost the economy at each plant location.

And the KBB.com 2016 Brand Image Award Goes to: Chrysler

Chrysler has long been one of the industry’s most trusted automakers, and now, Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com has confirmed that status by giving Chrysler the 2016 Brand Image Award, a sought-after title in the automotive world.

The award was designed by KBB.com to “recognize automakers’ outstanding achievements in creating and maintaining brand attributes that capture the attention and enthusiasm of new-vehicle buyers,” which Chrysler has surely done this past year, with exciting models such as the new Chrysler Pacifica.

To decide which automaker should win the award, annual new-car buyer perception data is evaluated among luxury, non-luxury, and truck shoppers, via KBB.com. Based on this evidence, Chrysler was also named the 2016 Best Car Styling Brand.

The Chrysler New York Auto Show Lineup: Heating Things Up

Chrysler New York Auto Show Lineup

Celebrating the latest in Chrysler engineering, the New York Auto Show brought together some of the most innovative designs in automotive history. The Chrysler New York Auto Show lineup includes an array of vehicles seen for the first time, including six new limited edition models.

According to Chrysler, the new models include the 2015 Ram Laramie Limited and Rebel editions, the 2015 Chrysler 300, the 2015 Jeep Renegade, the 2015 Dodge Challenger Shaker Model, and more. The auto show highlighted incredible capabilities and performance, dominating the show with some of the world’s best new cars and trucks.

“FCA US are celebrating the spring season with a lineup that brings color and excitement to the 2015 New York International Auto Show,” said Chrysler in a statement. “[We] treated show attendees to everything from the world’s fastest muscle cars to the most fuel-efficient pick-up trucks to seductive Italian sports cars.”

The new Laramie Limited and Rebel offer exclusive off-road capabilities and an array of new features like a suspension lift kit, custom interior, and 33-inch tires. The 300 is a bold take on the classic design, now featuring best-in-class 31 mpg highway. The open-air freedom and nine-speed transmission on the new Renegade offer unparalleled off-roading, and the Shaker model is a retro throwback to celebrate HEMI performance.

The 2015 Mopar Custom Models Showcase at Detroit Auto Show

Mopar dominated the spotlight during the 2015 North American International Auto show (NAIAS) in Detroit. With three new custom models available, including two Jeep Renegades and a Dodge Challenger, Mopar engineers have certainly been busy these past few months.

According to Chrysler the 2015 Mopar custom models are the Off-Road Mopar Jeep Renegade, the Urban Mopar Jeep Renegade, and the Dodge Challenger T/A Concept. Both Jeeps boast a selection of accessories and modifications, including graphics, lights, grilles and more. The interiors have been completely redesigned with high-end durable materials as well.

“Customers can pull from our portfolio of Mopar products to augment the versatility and capability of the all-new Jeep Renegade, as shown with two Mopar-equipped Renegade vehicles, or to beef up the muscle of the Dodge Challenger while adding a vintage feel, as demonstrated by the Dodge Challenge T/A Concept,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar.

The new Challenger is an interpretation of the ‘70s classic, with Sublime Green painting, a 6.4-liter HEMI, and racing brakes and exhaust. The T/A debuted at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, but is still causing quite a stir.

These 3 models highlight some of the best Mopar has to offer. Although Mopar is usually only associated with what goes on underneath the hood, its lineup at the NAIAS proves it has no problem customizing the exterior and interior as well.

Chrysler Diesel Engine Repeats as One of Ward’s 10 Best Engines

Two of Chrysler’s engines recently made it onto this year’s Ward’s 10 Best Engines list. The two engines were the 6.2-liter HEMI Hellcat V-8 and the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6. The Chrysler diesel engine is a repeat winner, having made the Ward’s Auto list last year as well, and it remains the only diesel engine on the whole list.

At least one Chrysler Group vehicle has been on the list for the last five years, and both of these engines are very worthy candidates. The EcoDiesel gets 28 mpg highway in the 2015 Ram 1500 pickup and is also available in the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The HEMI engine, on the other hand, gets 707 horsepower, making it the most powerful engine ever included on the list. The HEMI engine powers the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.

“These two distinctly different engines represent the wide range of powertrain-engineering expertise and technology at Chrysler Group,” said Bob Lee, Vice President and Head of Engine, Powertrain and Electrified Propulsion Systems Engineering. “For their considerable might, they also are both highly efficient and refined – key hallmarks of Chrysler Group powertrains. Such attributes have helped power our vehicles to the top of the sales charts.”

Those same attributes also helped lead the engines to be included on this exclusive list, and in turn, that recognition leads to more customer appreciation. So come see Rochester Hills Chrysler Jeep for more news about both these engines and the amazing Chrysler vehicles in which they come.

Chrysler Pentastar Logo Makes Way for FCA

A brand’s logo can easily become an instantly recognizable symbol of what the brand stands for. Even young children who can’t read can recognize certain logos. Now, the automotive industry will be losing the Chrysler Pentastar logo, which has been a mainstay of the industry since 1962.

Chrysler has completed its merger with Fiat and the official name of the joint company is Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. As such, the branding needed to change, too, and both groups have switched over to the new FCA logo.

While this simple logo may not be as creative as the Pentastar, it shows the solidarity of the new merger and it doesn’t affect any of the eight brands sold by Fiat Chrysler, meaning you won’t be seeing it on the back of any new cars or trucks any time soon.

The new FCA logo is already in use on most of Chrysler’s corporate and online communications. However, if you find yourself pining for the old star, you can always look at the top of Chrysler’s headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan, as there are no plans to remove it from the building.
