RAM 1500 EcoDiesel Gives Truck Fans What They Want

RAM 1500 EcoDiesel

Truck aficionados are always clamoring for higher towing capacity without losing fuel economy. With the 2014 RAM 1500 EcoDiesel, one of the most popular trucks in America as a two-time Motor Trend Truck of the Year, the 2014 RAM gives truck fans what they want.

Although the EcoDiesel model of the 2014 RAM 1500 costs slightly more than the traditional gasoline-version, Chrysler expects the EcoDiesel models of the 2014 Ram 1500 to account for 10-15 percent of 1500-series sales in 2014 according to an autoblog article.

Part of the reason for the optimism on behalf of the auto maker is the fact that the 8,000  trucks they initially offered to specific dealerships were completely allocated  in just three days. RAM was not totally surprised by the success because of a few reasons. The trim levels featuring the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 and standard eight-speed TorqueFlight automatic combine to offer 240 horsepower with an estimated fuel economy of 28 mpg.

Chrysler’s Lucky Number is Seven

The Edwards Commitment Scale

Chrysler makes some of the most beloved vehicles in America. They are an American car company that knows what people in this country look for in a new car and they offer a lineup featuring some of the most recognizable models in the market. This sentiment was further vindicated by a new consumer survey by Strategic Vision in which seven Chrysler vehicles took home honors.

In the survey, consumers were asked to rank attributes of their vehicle and dealership experience on the “The Edwards Commitment Scale™ [which] ranges from 1=Hate it, 2=a Failure, 3=Unsatisfactory, 4=Satisfactory, 5=Excellent, 6=Delightful and 7=Love it” according to a Chrysler press release. This information was then used to determine the “Most Loved Vehicles” list, with the highest scoring vehicles given the honorary title.

The survey included choices for several categories of vehicles including small car, large car, mid-sized SUV, specialty coupe, full-size pickup, and heavy duty pickup. The biggest winner was the Dodge brand which brought in four of the seven spots. Additionally, RAM took two and Jeep netted the final spot.

  • Dodge Dart (small car)
  • Dodge Durango (mid-sized SUV)
  • Dodge Charger (large car)
  • Dodge Challenger (specialty coupe)
  • Jeep® Grand Cherokee (mid-sized SUV)
  • Ram 1500 (full-size pickup)
  • Ram 2500 (heavy duty pickup)

Chrysler is America’s Import

Chrysler is America's ImportChrysler wants to get one thing clear… It is an American company. It is a message that they have been trying to get across since the 2011 Super Bowl when they had one of the best commercials of the game, featuring Eminem driving a Chrysler 200 and a tagline that read “Imported From Detroit.”

With the 2014 Super Bowl, the company now known as FCA took a very similar approach with a commercial featuring the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200, Bob Dylan and a tagline “America’s Import.”

RAM Holds Top 2 Spots for Truck Fuel Economy

2014 Ram 1500The 2014 RAM 1500 has earned a record-breaking 28 mpg rating from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), setting a new standard for all full-size, half-ton pickup on the market.

This incredible rating was made possible by the RAM’s all-new 3.0-liter EcoDiesel, the first and only advanced-technology turbo-diesel offered in the segment. Thanks to its Selective Catalytic Reduction, high-pressure cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation, and variable swirl intake ports, the EcoDiesel delivers class-leading fuel economy as well as more power than any other V6-powered full-size truck, with peak torque measured at 420 pound-feet.

This also marks the 2nd time RAM takes the top spot for efficiency in pickup rankings, as the 2014 model’s record replaced none other than the one set by the 2013 RAM 1500 last year.

“To put the RAM 1500 EcoDiesel in context, it gets 6 mpg better fuel economy than the best F150 Eco-Boost,” said Reid Bigland, President and CEO of RAM Truck Brand. “Overall, the RAM 1500 Eco-Diesel has outstanding pick-up truck capability with compact-car-like fuel economy.”
