Top Vehicle Picks for 2015

2015 Jeep Renegade

We are only four months in, and 2015 has already been quite the year Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). Its U.S. offerings have already snagged more than 30 awards, adding two AAA Arizona Top Vehicle Picks for 2015 to its impressive and ever-growing list of accolades.

The 2015 Chrysler 300 has been named a AAA Arizona Top Pick for the Full-size Sedan segment, while the 2015 Jeep Renegade earned the Top Pick in the coveted Cool Car segment.  AAA Arizona chose its list of Top Vehicles based on their performance in a number of categories, including fuel economy, reliability, performance, safety, and styling.

“This big, bold American sedan has world-class levels of sophistication, craftsmanship, and technology including Wi-Fi service,” Jim Prueter, AAA Arizona automotive journalist, said when talking about the Chrysler 300 in a news release.

Preuter went on to describe the Renegade, saying, “It has personality, character, and most importantly, it is iconic Jeep in spades. Its appearance suggests a cartoonish ruggedness and its Trail Rated creds confirm its off-road capability. There’s no denying the little Renegade is a head turner.”

Could a Jeep Pickup Truck be in the Works?

Flying cars, self-driving cars, there are dozens of futuristic models that have the potential to be here much sooner than most of us expect. However, there’s another model that could be coming in the near future to be excited about as well. A new Jeep pickup truck is possibly in the works, and that definitely puts a smile on our faces here at Rochester Hills Chrysler Jeep.

The last Jeep pickup truck that was around was the Comanche from 1986 to 1992, and we haven’t seen one since. That is, until 2018. Maybe (wink, wink).

According to sources, the highest probability of Jeep producing a pickup version would be in the next-generation Wrangler, arriving in 2018. This type of pickup truck would appeal to those looking for an outdoors and off-road focused truck, along with a style that so many people love already.

Mike Manley, head of Jeep, has given little detail about an actual pickup truck being built; however, he has revealed that he believes a pickup belongs in the lineup and that is enough for us. For now, anyways.

5-Year Cost to Own Awards Go to 2015 Jeep Patriot and Wrangler

5-year cost to own awards

2015 Jeep Patriot – Cost to Own Award

The cost of owning a car includes a variety of factors, including purchase price, depreciation, fuel costs, insurance, and more. This is why it is important to think about more than just the purchase price when buying a new car. That is why, each year, KBB.com creates a list of the 5-Year Cost to Own awards.

This year, both the 2015 Jeep Patriot and 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited were included in the awards. This is the third year in a row the Patriot has won in the compact SUV/Crossover category and the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited had the lowest ownership costs in the Mid-size SUV/Crossover segment.

“Winning these two significant awards from Kelley Blue Book is a tremendous honor and significant achievement for the Jeep Brand, and particularly for the 2015 Jeep Patriot and Jeep Wrangler Unlimited,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand, in a statement. “The awards reinforce the exceptional value that Jeep vehicles deliver to customers throughout their ownership experience.”

Both the Patriot and Wrangler landed on the list because of their value-oriented design and features.

If you’re looking for an SUV that won’t break the bank, come check out both the 2015 Jeep Patriot and Wrangler Unlimited available now at Rochester Hills Chrysler Jeep.

2015 Ram Power Wagon Wins Truck of the Year from Four Wheeler Magazine

Truck of the Year

2015 RAM Power Wagon – Truck of the Year

The Ram Power Wagon first hit the market as a 2005 model, so that means it’s now celebrating ten full years on the road—and off the road. It’s starting off the new model ear with a bang, too, taking home another Pickup Truck of the Year award from Four Wheeler magazine. This is the fourth time the especially off-road capable truck has taken home the award.

With the award, the 2015 Ram Power Wagon not only validates its own excellence but the brand’s willingness to constantly push for improvements. Only new vehicles or vehicles with major mechanical changes qualify for eligibility. The Power Wagon’s four wins, therefore, highlight Ram’s willingness to add and improve the truck at all turns.

This year, the Power Wagon comes with a 6.4-liter HEMI engine with 410 horsepower and 428 lb.-ft. of torque. That powertrain links with a special 5-link rear suspension system for extra sensitive and responsive handling. “The 2015 Ram Power Wagon is simply everything you want a real pickup to be,” Christian Hazel, editor of Four Wheeler, stated succinctly. Here Are Some Icy Car Tips for the Last Bit of Winter

Icy Car Tips

Spring almost here, but it sure doesn’t feel like it. Winter weather makes it difficult in the mornings or any time of day for our vehicles. From having icy windows and windshield to hazardous road conditions, winter is no fun at all.

Well, we can’t really help with the road conditions, but we can definitely give you some icy car tips:

  • The first thing you should do is brush off any snow and loose ice that you are able to, even on top of the vehicle. The snow on top of the vehicle may fall while you are driving, causing you vision difficulties.
  • Give the ice on the windshield a little poke to see if you can break it up a little before scraping. Make sure you don’t use anything other than your scraper as you could damage your windshield.
  • Be sure to start your car for a bit before you head out. This will get the heater and defrosters going – but make sure that the exhaust pipe and radiator grill are clear of snow and ice.
  • Also, be sure to turn on the headlights; even that smallest bit of additional heat and energy will assist in warming the car and melting any ice on the headlights. Also, while you are cleaning off the car, be sure all snow is away from the headlights and taillights.
  • Use de-icer windshield fluid to help with the ice. But, be sure not to use boiling water on your windows or windshield as it could crack the glass.

We here at Rochester Hills Chrysler Jeep know that winter can be a struggle in Michigan. We hope that these icy car tips will be helpful while we prepare for the nice Spring weather we hope to get very soon!
