Interested in getting a new truck? We understand why. They’re capable, reliable, and offer unprecedented towing power. Here are some of our top reasons for why you should own a pickup truck.

Power and Capability

Pickup trucks typically come with several engine and transmission options that crank out some serious ponies, as well as having good ground clearance, rigid body construction, and wheels built for traction.

Towing

In addition to delivering plenty of power, pickup trucks provide drivers with the ability to tow and haul whatever they need. Whether you’re hauling boats for a weekend away or a trailer full of moving boxes and furniture, your truck has got you covered.

Safety and Visibility

Pickup trucks are a lot taller than your average car, so you’ll be able to see a lot more on the road. Plus, with a tough body construction and advanced safety features, pickup trucks are often safer, too.

Versatile

With the ability to tow and haul, pickup trucks can be used for many different purposes. Depending on your needs, you can choose between several different body configurations of both cabs and truck beds to make your pickup truck your own.

Why and How to Celebrate Labor Day

On the first Monday in September, many Americans look forward to having the day off from work. But, do you know what Labor Day is meant to celebrate? We will take a look at some of the history of this holiday and how to celebrate Labor Day, besides just having a barbecue.

Labor Day

Why Do We Celebrate?

In the late 1800s, many states designated the first Monday in September as a day to honor American workers. Monday was specifically chosen so that workers could potentially have a three-day weekend. On June 28, 1894, Congress officially established Labor Day as a national holiday.

How to Celebrate?

Many communities across the country host Labor Day celebrations that may include parades and festivals. If you really want to get into the true spirit of the holiday, you can try some of the following.

  • Look specifically for products produced in the United States.
  • Plan a trip to visit a local factory.
  • Give generous tips to any service workers you interact with.
  • Learn about the history and importance of labor laws here in America.
  • Make a goodie basket and take it to your local police or fire station.

Here at Rochester Hills Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we hope you and your family have a fun and safe Labor Day weekend.

Tips for Going to the DMV

If you own a car or have a driver’s license, you are going to have to go to the DMV at some point in your life. While this can be a dreaded task, there are a few things you can do to make going to the DMV more bearable. Here are a few tips.

Do you actually need to go?

There may be a few tasks that do not require a physical trip. Check online or call to see if you can mail in your paperwork.

Get organized

Make sure you have all the required paperwork for your task. Depending on what you are doing, that could include your birth certificate, proof of address, vehicle title, etc.

Go during downtime

Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays are usually the busiest times at the DMV. Aim for the middle of the week and see if there is a less popular branch that could speed up your visit even more.

Stay occupied

Bring along a book or your headphones so you can listen to music or a podcast while you wait. Or you could simply enjoy the peace and quiet and do some people watching.

If you buy a new or used car here at Rochester Hills Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we’ll take care of your temporary tags, so you can at least skip one trip to the DMV.

Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Organization

Right here in Michigan, there is a great non-profit organization whose primary goal is to support our wounded veterans that have served in either Iraq or Afghanistan and also live in Michigan. That group is called The Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund (FWSF).

Army Soldier

The Beginning

Since mid-2006, FWSF has supported veterans in need of assistance. A great deal of the organization’s funding is provided by local businesses and organizations, as well as donations. FWSF supports our veterans through a variety of means, including assistance with housing payments, utilities, transportation costs, food, home repairs, medical expenses, funeral costs, and more.

Recent Years

In 2015, FWSF was able to assist 253 veterans with $465,371. In 2016, the group received even more funding and were able to support 360 veterans with $707,523. As the needs of our veterans continue to grow, FWSF hopes to help even more.

If you have been searching for a great non-profit organization to donate your time or money, consider the FWSF. None of their volunteers or members receive any pay. That means the FWSF has a current give rate of 97%, which makes you feel confident your money is going where it is intended.

Here at Rochester Hills Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we are proud to support and showcase The Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund.
