2014 Ram 1500 Wins Motor Trend Truck of the Year for Second Time

For the very first time, the Motor Trend Truck of the Year award goes to last year’s winner, the Ram 1500. This model is the only truck that has won the award two years in a row. With its new EcoDiesel V6 engine, the Ram 1500 beat out some stiff competition this year. The Ram proved its reliability against its nine other contenders testing done by judges which measured tow, payload, and driving experience. Judges measured these stats 0-60 times to ensure accuracy in Uvalde, TX.

Not only is the Ram 1500 roomy with its two-door and long bed layout, it also tows anywhere from 7,300 to 9,200 pounds. Additionally, the Ram 1500 comes equipped with a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 diesel engine that has 240 horsepower. This truck of the year gets an average of 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. When this truck underwent real-world testing it got up to 24 mpg over hills in Malibu, CA.

In addition to being the only truck to ever win this award two years in a row, the announcement was made in Michigan which is the birthplace of Ram trucks. The Ram 1500 outclasses its stiff competition not only with its fuel economy and Torque, but also its style and all amenities it has to offer.
