Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon Recon

Known for its daring design and capable cars, Jeep didn’t disappoint with its range of Chicago Auto Show offerings. Jeep’s model lineup for the event consisted of all of its most popular nameplates, plus a new vehicle making its debut and a slick concept, to keep things interesting. These Jeep concepts and models drew attention from Jeep enthusiasts like us at Rochester Hills CDJR, bolstering excitement.

In terms of production vehicles, Jeep brought nameplates like the Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, Renegade, and of course, the classic Wrangler. With the recent popularity of SUVs and crossovers, Jeep’s lineup has been creating a bit of buzz in the industry. However, Jeep didn’t want to leave its fans empty-handed, so it took the opportunity to debut the new 2017 Compass, which combines Jeep’s signature off-road capability and power with refined modern comforts.

Jeep also took the opportunity to introduce the CJ66 concept, a performance-focused off-roader with a 383 horsepower HEMI V8 engine, a performance exhaust, and Mopar suspension parts.

The Jeep concepts and models at the Chicago Auto Show posed a promise to Jeep fans everywhere – the brand is going to keep cranking out quality, all-terrain vehicles with an updated flair that adapts to modern sensibilities.

2017 SUV of the Year is Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk

2017 SUV of the Year

Serious off-roaders need serious SUVs that can handle the rigors of crawling over rocks, crossing streams, and climbing mountains. This year, FOUR WHEELER magazine has named the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk its 2017 SUV of the Year.

With this award, the Grand Cherokee continues its legacy as the most-awarded SUV ever. The SUV of the Year award is given to the best-performing model after a rigorous week of intense testing. FOUR WHEELER’s judges take the contenders through more than 1,000 miles of testing that includes mud, snow, rocks, sands, dirt, gravel, and pavement. They consider visibility, four-wheel-drive system performance, tire performance, and more when making their decision.

“Our new Trailhawk model is the most capable Grand Cherokee ever produced, and we’re delighted the FOUR WHEELER editors have recognized its outstanding combination of off-road features,” said Mike Manley, Head of Jeep Brand – FCA Global. “Trailhawk instantly provided Grand Cherokee customers even more legendary Jeep 4×4 capability, quickly becoming one of the fastest-selling and most sought-after models in our lineup.”

When you drive home in the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, it will come equipped with some remarkable equipment, including Jeep’s Quadra-Drive II 4×4 system, a unique version of the Quadra-Lift air suspension, Selec-Speed Control, skid plates, and more. All features are aimed at letting you have the time of your life when you head off the pavement.

The Best Easter Jeep Safari Concepts of 2016

Jeep Crew Chief Concept

For Jeep fans, Easter is pretty much the most awesome time of year. That’s because it’s the time that Jeep debuts the Easter Jeep Safari Concepts. Of course, it can also be the most challenging time of the year too because you can’t help but love these concepts; a bad position to be in knowing they will probably never go to production…

Despite the pain it may cause, here’s a few of our favorites for this year…

Jeep Crew Chief 715

According to AutoWeek, the Jeep Crew Chief 715 is “a tribute to the Kaiser M715.” You’ll find that classic Kaiser grille and a pickup bed on this sweet concept. The concept also features 20-inch beadlock wheels.

Jeep Shortcut

Just as the name implies, this Jeep has been truncated…but not without reason! It’s a homage to the classic Willys CJ-5. It’s been lifted two inches and even features a certain shade of orange on the body that is reminiscent of the CJ-5.

Jeep Trailcat

Ever heard of the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat? Sure you have. The Jeep Trailcat is essentially a Jeep Hellcat. That means it has a 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 under the hood, good for 707 horsepower.

Jeep is a much-loved brand, with loyal customers. The Cherokee, Wrangler, and Liberty are beloved by consumers, but that’s not all Jeep has to offer. Though it’s been in the talks for a while, Jeep has confirmed production of a Jeep pickup truck.

Yes, it’s extremely exciting. This truck will keep the classic look of a Wrangler, but with a truck bed in back! The pickup was confirmed by Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne and Jeep CEO Mike Manley at the Detroit Auto Show. They said that the truck would reach production in late 2017, so that gives us something to look forward to next year!

More details will emerge later this month, when FCA reveals its updated five-year product strategy. For now, we know that the pickup will be built alongside the next-gen Wrangler in Toledo, Ohio. Now, this won’t be the first Jeep pickup truck, as there had been pickups produced between 1947 and 1992. But since the Comanche left the market, a new Jeep pickup is much anticipated, as it’ll be the first one modeled after the Wrangler!

So, count down the days because the Jeep pickup will be here before you know it!

Could Jeep Wrangler Production Be Moving to Michigan?

Jeep’s world is changing thanks to stringent new federal fuel economy standards. Love it or hate it, in order to keep up with our country’s demand for fuel efficient vehicles, the Jeep Wrangler needs to make some big changes. Michigan just might benefit from what would be a major loss to Toledo, Ohio – the relocation of Jeep Wrangler production.

Toledo has been home to production of the Wrangler for more than 70 years, and if Jeep could have things its way, Toledo would remain Jeep’s home well into the future. Unfortunately for Toledo, if Jeep determines that a new, aluminum-bodied model is the next step for the iconic Wrangler, then the automaker would move production from Ohio to a plant that is prepared to handle aluminum production. Detroit’s under-utilized Sterling Heights Assembly plant could fit the bill.

According to, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne said that it would just be too expensive to update the Toledo plant to accommodate aluminum production. Don’t feel too bad though, if the Wrangler does move, the Toledo plant would welcome a new (unspecified) vehicle – meaning no jobs will be lost.

We expect things might get a bit heated as the local government fights for the iconic Wrangler and the economic incentives associated with its production. Stay tuned – we’ll keep you updated as the Wrangler navigates this unchartered territory.

Here at Rochester Hills Chrysler Jeep, we’d be happy to welcome the Wrangler into our home state, and are looking forward to a new, fuel efficient version of the SUV – wherever it’s built.

Popular Band O.A.R.’s Concert in Colorado Takes Jeep on the Rocks

The future of Jeep Wrangler is about to get a bit rocky—in a good way. Popular rock band O.A.R. rocked out at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado last Saturday as part of the annual Jeep on the Rocks concert experience. The band kicked off their Jeep experience with an off-road excursion in Jeep Wrangler SUVs through Idaho Springs, Colorado before holding the special concert sponsored by the American Jeep brand.

“Colorado is full of devoted Jeep enthusiasts and we could not think of a more fitting way to celebrate their loyalty than to host a concert under the stars at Red Rocks with a legendary live performer like O.A.R.,” said Jeff Hines, Director of the Denver Business Center for Chrysler Group LLC.

O.A.R. is known for their dynamic, vibrant live shows, which make them the perfect band to showcase Jeep’s rugged Wrangler that is vibrant all on its own. O.A.R.’s concert in Colorado began at 7pm with the band Parachute opening for the top-of-the-charts band.

If you want to be a rock star, just like O.A.R., and need the perfect car for your entourage, stop in to Rochester Hills Chrysler Jeep and see what Jeep brand vehicles we have for you!

Hilarious Jeep Driver Takes Advantage of Corvette Owner’s ‘Bad’ Parking

Nobody wants their car to get scratched or dinged in a parking lot, but drivers of fancy sports cars seem to be particularly sensitive about it. We’ve all see Porsches, Corvettes, and BMWs parked way in the back of a parking lot taking up two spaces.

But, what do you do when someone does the same thing in the first row of the parking lot right in front of the door? Well, if you’re a Jeep driver, you take matters into your own hands and pull up onto the curb and park extremely close to that precious Corvette.

That’s what one New Jersey man did after being stuck in traffic for two hours and stopping at a restaurant to get something to eat. When he saw the white Corvette taking up two spaces right in front of the restaurant, he decided to do what Jeeps do best and park however he wanted, too—half on the curb, right next to the Corvette.

He then took a seat in the restaurant by the window so he could watch for the Corvette owner. He then recorded the guy checking for any scratches as people walk by and laugh at him.

Maybe this Corvette owner has learned his lesson. If you want to park like you own the world, take your precious sports car to the back of the parking lot.

What do you think about this? Did the Jeep driver take it too far or did he give the Corvette owner exactly what he deserved?
