Chrysler has recently announced the magnificent news of producing 2,000,000 engines. Cummins Incorporated has headed RAM’s diesel engine production, and now they are at the helm with over 2 million produced.
Cummins started in their partnership with Chrysler in 1985, when Cummins developed a 5.9L 12-valve inline 6-cylinder turbo diesel. RAM pickups now feature a 6.7L 6-cylinder turbo diesel pushing over 350 HP.
“The Ram Truck-Cummins diesel partnership is one of the industry’s most enduring and certainly fitting of such a tribute, both companies have benefited greatly, but Ram diesel customers are the real beneficiaries. Every day they experience the toughness and capability a Cummins-powered Ram can deliver.” Fred Diaz, CEO and President of Chrysler & RAM in Mexico.
“I am immensely proud of our association with Cummins, and I have no qualms matching our truck diesels against those of any competitor for performance and durability.” Bob Lee, Chrysler VP.
In this week’s episode of Jay Leno’s Garage, the 1967 Chrysler Imperial Crown Coupe is highlighted.
As Jay claims, the ’67 Crown Coupe is “for the man who doesn’t seek prestige because he already has it.”
The 1967 Imperial added a unique bodyshell to the already unibody platform that Chrysler had adopted to all their other full-size editions. The Mobile Director feature of the Chrysler Imperial created a front passenger option to completely turn around to the back and a light folded out along with a table from the back seat.
