Fiat Chrysler sparked a bit of controversy last week, when some information inadvertently leaked, indicating that the auto company might be designing a diesel engine for one of their passenger cars, the 2015 Chrysler 200.
Allpar, a car enthusiast website that admittedly offers “no guarantees regarding validity … of information” in their disclaimer, mentioned a 2.2-liter “DeTomaso” diesel engine as an option for the Chrysler 200, which was then backed up by Automotive News, a reputable industry trade journal.
Adding even more credit to this possibility, Italian engine-makers Alfa Romeo are currently designing an engine that matches that of the Chrysler 200 listing. And yes, Alfa Romeo has frequently worked with the Italian car company called – you guessed it – “DeTomaso.”
However – Chrysler itself hasn’t confirmed the diesel engine option.
The Alfa Romeo engine in production is said to have multiple horsepower outputs, ranging from 135 to 200 horsepower. What do you think about this 2015 Chrysler 200 diesel engine?
