If you’ve got your hands on a Jeep that you intend to take off-road, odds are you’re wondering about the best Jeep accessories on the market. Here’s a quick overview of what you should be keeping in mind when shopping
You’ve probably seen Jeeps and trucks with lift kits before, but the Wrangler gets an extra kick out of a lift kit because improved ground clearance equals better off-roading adventuring.
If you enjoy crawling over rocks and through swampy, muddy terrain, a set of solid mud tires will help your Jeep perform and handle better.
If you’ve got the lift kit and bigger tires, you’ll need to be able to fit those tires on your Jeep. Bigger fender flares will make more space for your wheels.
No matter how prepared you are for going off-road, odds are you’re eventually going to get stuck somewhere. This is why you should opt for a recovery winch with a capable rope for pulling a trapped Jeep out of perilous places.
If you have any more concerns about the best Jeep accessories, don’t hesitate to call or stop in to ask us here at Rochester Hills CDJR. We’ll give you all the information you need to make a good decision.
Spring cleaning doesn’t have to just be about your house. Why not clean out your car as well? Here are some spring cleaning tips for getting the most out of cleaning your vehicle.
Toss any trash, keep what you want
Sort all the stuff laying around in your car into a “trash” pile and a “keep” pile. Toss out the fast food wrappers you’ve been hiding in your backseat and bring your gym clothes into the house and wash them for once.
Scrub and vacuum
Vacuuming is a great idea, but you should clean out any dirt that’s stuck in the carpet or in the nooks and crannies of your car’s interior by using a bristled brush to scrub it until it’s loose.
Instead of taking your car through a drive-through car wash, bring out some car-friendly soap and get down and dirty with an old-fashioned hand-washing.
Clean the windows last
If you start with your windows, grime from the rest of the car is just going to get on them again, so wait till you’ve cleaned everything else first.
Our team at Rochester Hills CDJR knows how special it feels to get into a clean, like-new car, so make sure to follow these spring cleaning tips to experience the feeling of driving a car that’s been taken care of.

Everyone knows that Ram rocks, but it’s still nice to hear.
Automotive Fleet magazine holds a yearly voting process in which its readers – over 20,000 operators and owners of commercial truck fleets in North America – select which truck they like the best. Competition in the segment is always rough, but Automotive Fleet said the votes favored a clear winner by a landslide. The results are in, and this year, the Fleet Truck of the Year title went to the Ram 1500.
The Ram 1500 is no stranger to the honor, either. This is the second time in the past three years the truck has taken home the award. The 1500 succeeded in categories such as application effectiveness, durability, quality, servicing, maintenance, and lifestyle costs. Amazingly, the Ram 1500 was one of forty trucks contending for the award, but managed to pull into the number one spot regardless.
Bob Hegbloom, the head of the Ram Brand of FCA North America, commented on the win, “Receiving an award based on such an experienced audience truly gives Ram Truck more momentum and confirms we are delivering the features most important to business owners.”
Ram enthusiastically accepted the 2015 Fleet Truck of the Year award, happy to receive recognition for their continued commitment to excellence.
Stay Safe by Knowing What to Do if you Hydroplane.
Driving in the rain with low visibility is scary enough, but when you skid on the water and feel yourself losing control of your vehicle, it’s even scarier. But there’s no need to panic—it’s actually very easy to regain control, so just follow these steps for what to do when you hydroplane and you’ll be fine!
The first rule of hydroplaning is do not slam on your brakes. Don’t even touch them! If you brake, especially if you brake hard, you will skid and lose even more control of your car. Not preferable. There are two different methods, depending on if you’re in a front-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive car.
In a front-wheel drive car, you’ll want to steer into an open lane so you have plenty of room in front of you. If there isn’t an open lane, try the side of the road. As you’re steering over into that lane (don’t swerve!) slowly accelerate until you have more control.
In rear-wheel drive, on the other hand, you’ll want to take your foot off the gas pedal as you steer into the other lane. Don’t brake still! Just let your car decelerate. You should regain control quickly.
By placing more recycling bins in traffic-heavy areas of the Fiat-Chrysler America assembly plant in Belvidere, Illinois, FCA and PepsiCo Recycling encourage employees to recycle more trash, which in turn supports PepsiCo Recycling’s partnership with the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities. This program provides business training to disabled veterans to help them get back on their feet after returning from the line of duty.
FCA officials have been looking for a way to decrease landfill waste and increase recycling, and the partnership with PepsiCo and its support of veterans is the perfect way to go about it. Plant employees are doubly encouraged to recycle, knowing they will help both the environment and the men and women of the armed forces.
FCA also has a long history of supporting the military, including cash allowances for veterans buying new Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram vehicles and teaming up with the Prestige Group Co. to grant internship positions at FCA to returning veterans.
If you’re looking for ways to help the environment, then why not look into purchasing a new, more fuel-efficient vehicle?
If you have kids or grandkids, you might be helping them make the final touches on their Halloween costumes. For kids, Halloween is one of the best times of the year. Who doesn’t love dressing up in a costume and having people give you buckets full of candy?
But, with all this fun, we can’t forget the safety. Here are a few Halloween safety tips to make sure your trick-or-treaters stay safe:
Never dart out into the street. Only cross at corners and use crosswalks.
Make eye contact with drivers before crossing the street.
Add reflective tape or stickers to costumes to make them stand out more.
Avoid masks that can obstruct vision—use face paint or makeup instead.
Drive slowly in residential areas.
Be on constant alert for pedestrians, especially at intersections.
Eliminate distractions in your car—turn off the radio, put your phone away.
Turn your headlights on earlier than usual so you can spot children from farther away.
