2015 Jeep Renegade Take 2

A renegade is defined by Merriam Webster as “someone or something that causes trouble and cannot be controlled.” The all-new 2015 Jeep Renegade will be precisely that. It won’t be controlled by traditional driving barriers, built to travel off the beaten bath and then some. It will cause trouble for competitors in the market

The 2015 Jeep Renegade was introduced earlier this March at the 2014 Geneva International Motor Show, but likely won’t be in American showrooms until the first quarter of 2015. While the 2015 Jeep Renegade is built for adventure, with tow hooks, 4×4 capability and 17-inch off-road aluminum wheels, it also has a relaxed side as well.

By that we mean the Renegade isn’t just for the adventurer, but for the person who wants to be able to comfortably seat five people and still have lots of cargo room available; who wants a way to let the sun shine in their car through the My Sky™ sun roof – a system of two fully lockable or removable roof panels; and who wants the option of living the Jeep lifestyle in a small SUV.

As mentioned before, the 2015 Jeep Renegade won’t be available until next year so to tie you over, come in and check out our wide selection of other great Jeeps at Rochester Hills Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram.

RAM 1500 Engine One of Ward Auto’s 10 Best Engines for 2014

RAM 1500 engineWhen you think of a RAM 1500, some of the first adjectives that come to mind are dependent, powerful, maybe even “GUTS • GLORY.” Whatever words you choose they are likely not the same ones you use to describe a Maserati.

However, the vehicles on opposite ends of the spectrum have more in common than you might think. That’s because the EcoDiesel engine found in the RAM 1500 is similar to the one found in the Maserati Quattroporte and Ghibli. The RAM engine isn’t tuned to produce 275-hp and 442 lb-ft of torque like the Maserati ones, but it is one of Ward Auto’s 10 Best Engines in 2014.

That’s because as far as diesel engines go, the 3.0L Turbodiesel DOHC V-6 is one the most powerful yet fuel efficient engines on the market. According to Ward Auto’s review of the engine provides smooth-shifting and “goes about its business with little effort or humdrum and propels the 6,000-lb. (2,722-kg) truck with ease.”

If you’re looking to take advantage of all the award-winning EcoDiesel engine has to over, visit us at Rochester Hills Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM. You can test drive a 2014 RAM 1500  for yourself, or even a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which also utilizes this versatile diesel engine.

Preproduction Dodge Vipers Get Crushed

Imagine you owned one of the first preproduction Dodge Vipers ever built and you have kept it in great condition for years. Now imagine Fiat-Chrysler Automotives sent you a better saying you have to destroy the car. Hopefully this has never happened to you, but for college automotive technology departments who were donated the preproduction Vipers as part of a Chrysler program 10 years ago it is a very real scenario.

Obviously the schools aren’t thrilled about having to scrap preproduction Dodge Vipers that are worth at least $40,000 and possibly much more to the right collector or museum. However since the cars still technically belong to Chrysler they can order the cars to be destroyed. According to a press release by FCA it is common for this type of request to be made.

“As part of the donation process, it is standard procedure – and stipulated in our agreements – that whenever vehicles are donated to institutions for education purposes that they are to be destroyed when they are no longer needed for their intended educational purposes.”

The preproduction vipers, like the one show above definitely meet that categorical requirement as they were built without emission control systems or speed limiters and are vastly different than the types of vehicles most budding auto mechanics will service in their lifetimes.

While you can’t buy any preproduction Dodge Vipers, Rochester Hills Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram would be happy to sell you a much newer Viper instead.

2015 Jeep Renegade

From the award-winning Jeep Cherokee, to the Patriot and rangler, if you’re in the market for an SUV chances are you’ll find it at Jeep… unless of course you were looking for a small SUV before 2015.

That is because Jeep has never made a small SUV. Their foray into the small-SUV market will be made with the Jeep Renegade, which will debut in 2015. With plans to expand the brand globally, the 2015 Jeep Renegade will be “combines the brand’s heritage with fresh new styling to appeal to youthful and adventurous customers,” according to a Jeep press release.

One of the most exciting features of the 2015 Renegade will be the fact that it will combine a smaller frame and better driving dynamics with off-road capabilities and a more fuel efficient engine. All of those features and more will allow Jeep to offer a great small-SUV to their lineup.
