Chrysler announced their five year plan for the brand earlier this week. Two of the biggest changes were that Dodge will become exclusively a performance brand and the SRT will now be housed under Dodge. SRT will also get new leadership according to a press release.
While the influence of SRT being brought into the fold of Dodge products likely won’t be felt for a couple years, we are excited that all Dodge cars, trucks and SUVs will likely get a sportier feel.
According to an autoblog.com article Dodge “Journey will be turned into something rip-roaring by SRT in 2017.” SRT influence will also be seen in the 2016 Dodge Dart. There aren’t a lot of details yet, but one thing that is for certain is a Dart SRT with a supercharged engine on an all-wheel-drive PowerTrain.
Not every offering in the Dodge vehicle lineup is excited by the five-year plan however. Production of the Avenger will end in 2014, while production of the Grand Caravan will end in 2016. While the Chrysler 200 will address the avenger’s portion of the market, there is no update on if FCA will offer a minivan in another capacity.
